“In the midst of winter I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.” -Albert Camus
When I was a younger and more energetic version of myself, I spent my summers on Great Pond in Belgrade as a nanny for three blonde boys. We spent our days canoeing to islands, hiking through the woods, concocting scavenger hunts, and fishing off the dock.
One summer, there was talk of building a treehouse. I smiled and said, “Let’s do it.” When most adults would have asked, “Where do we even begin?”, or said, “There’s no way we can do that ourselves!”, those boys believed that we could right away.
And we did. We drew out plans over apple slices and pink lemonade. They raised the money for the supplies by holding bake sales. Those boys helped me cut each board, frame each wall, screw each screw, and by the end of the summer, we had a real treehouse. So this basket is named for our treehouse and those invincible summers with three blonde boys.
The Treehouse Basket measures 10.5 inches at its base, 12.5 inches at the brim, and stands 12” tall. It comes with your choice of three colors of beautiful nylon straps that I sourced from Fiddlehead Supply in Belfast, Maine.
