One great thing about living in Maine is that the maker community is full of incredible, like-minded, creative people. And sometimes you find people who you just connect with. And if you’re REALLY lucky, your products mesh together seamlessly, as well. Alana Hutchins from A and E Stoneworks in Swanville, Maine and I collaborated on this classic Maine basket, and we are both so pleased with how it turned out.
“The Stoneworks Basket” is a classic Scout + Bean basket, sewn with natural rope and white thread, adorned with a Maine-themed slate ornament from AandE. If you’re familiar with Scout + Bean baskets, this one is larger than a Harvest Basket, and smaller than a Mayfield Basket. It measures ten inches across the bottom, twelve inches at the brim, stands eight inches tall, and comes with your choice of slate ornament - State of Maine, Black Bear, Pine Tree, or Lobster Boat. If you’re feeling fancy, you can use chalk or chalk pens to personalize the slate ornaments with names, dates, or other notable words.
Made with cotton rope, custom made for Scout + Bean here in Midcoast Maine. Our thread is manufactured in North Carolina and our tabs in Tennessee, making all of our components U.S. made.
